Illinois Farmer Insurance sued over storm damage claim

A Belleville couple is suing their insurance company, seeking payment to cover storm damages to their home.

Patrick B. Mathis and Rosanne Mathis filed a lawsuit Dec. 20 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Illinois Farmer Insurance Co.

According to the complaint, the Mathises own a home at 33 Country Club Place in Belleville. The plaintiffs had an insurance policy with the defendant when the home was damaged by a severe storm on April 28, 2012. They filed a claim for the damage on July 31, 2012, but have yet to receive any payment from the defendant, according to the filing.

The plaintiffs are seeking damages in the amount of $143,000.

They are being represented in the case by attorney Laura E. Schrick.
