Debris from home project results in slip, lawsuit against sister-in-law

A home visitor is claiming that debris from a floor installation allegedly caused a fall and injuries.

Steven Wallace filed a lawsuit Dec. 13 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Dorothy Wallace and John Hitch.

According to the complaint, on Jan. 1, 2012, Steven Wallace was a guest at the home of his sister-in-law Dorothy Wallace at 309 Brookside Drive in Caseyville. Prior to the visit, new flooring at the home had been installed by defendant Hitch. The plaintiff states that cellophane had been left on the floor from the installation, which he tripped on and became injured.

Wallace is seeking more than $50,000 in damages, plus costs.

He is being represented in the case by attorney John H. Hustava.
