Man sues over highway accident

A man is suing over injuries he sustained in an auto accident.

Shane Ries, of Camanche, filed a complaint May 18 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Nick Quintal of O'Fallon.

On May 26, 2013, both Ries and Quintal were driving east on Interstate 64 in Canteen Township, when Quintal collided with Ries, causing him injuries.

According to the lawsuit, Quintal is cited for negligence for failing to maintain a proper lookout, reduce speed, maintain proper control, as well as for colliding with Ries' vehicle.

As a result, Ries suffered injuries to his head, hands and right shoulder, pain and suffering, medical expenses and loss of a normal life.

The plaintiff seeks damages in excess of $50,000, plus costs.

The plaintiff is represented by Mary M. Stewart of the Brunton Law Offices in Collinsville, and Michael L. Wassell of VanDerGinst Law PC in Moline.
