A woman's estate is suing a driver responsible for a crash that occurred previous to the woman's death.
Charles Peterson, as administrator of the estate of Dorothy Peterson, filed a complaint on May 14 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Charles A. Fahrner.
On or about May 20, 2013, the deceased was a passenger in a car being driven by her husband, Charles Peterson, east on North Belt West, where he'd stopped in the left turn lane at Frank Scott Parkway in Belleville. At the same time, Fahrner was driving right behind them, the lawsuit states, and ended up rear-ending the Peterson's vehicle with great force.
The defendant is cited with carelessness and negligence for failing to keep his vehicle under control, keep a proper lookout, stop or take evasive measures, drive his vehicle with safe brakes, operate at a safe speed, and drive a safe distance from the car in front.
As a result, the lawsuit states, the deceased was made to suffer injuries, pain and suffering, and medical expenses.
The plaintiff seeks damages in excess of $50,000, plus costs.
The plaintiff is represented by John E. Lee IV of AuBUCHON and LEE LLC in Belleville.
St. Clair County Circuit Court case no. 15L289.
