Defective peanut butter complaint filed by Florida woman in Madison County

A Florida woman who purchased Peter Pan Peanut Butter from an Illinois Dollar General filed a personal injury suit in Madison County Circuit Court May 31, claiming she became "violently ill" after eating a batch of tainted peanut butter between Oct. 5 and Oct. 10, 2006.

Unnatural accumulation of snow and ice subject of slip and fall suit

A woman who slipped and fell three separate times on ice, snow and water at the Cottonwood Mall in Glen Carbon filed a personal injury suit seeking damages in excess of $150,000.

Teutopolis man charged in child pornography crimes

Randy G. Massey, Acting United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, announced that on May 25 Darin Thomas Mills, 37, of Teutopolis, was charged by the U.S. Attorney's Office in a criminal complaint in U.S. District Court with two counts of possession of child pornography.

Man sentenced on firearms charges

Randy G. Massey, Acting U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, announced that on May 29, Frederick O. Goss, 41, of Mt. Vernon, was sentenced in the U.S. District Court in East St. Louis to more than 16 years (200 months) imprisonment, fined $750, and placed on three years supervised release.
