BELLEVILLE - The wife of a man who suffered fatal injuries when he was crushed by a mold lifter is suing the manufacturers.

The lawsuit was filed in the St. Clair County Circuit Court by Lisa Mattern, both individually and as Special Administrator of the Estate of Mark Mattern, deceased, against Roberts Sinto Corporation and Sinto America, Inc. The defendants are foreign corporations engaged in the business of designing, manufacturing, selling, distributing, installing, servicing, and repairing molding machines for foundries.

The complaint alleges that on Sept. 2, 2022, Mark Mattern was crushed by a mold lifter designed and manufactured by Roberts Sinto while working at Century Brass Works, Inc., a foundry owned and operated in Swansea. The lawsuit alleges Roberts Sinto designed an unreasonably dangerous and defective product that resulted in Mark Mattern's death.

Lisa Matern is seeking damages for the loss of society, love, affection, care, attention, companionship, comfort, guidance and economic support due to Mark Mattern’s untimely death. The plaintiff is represented by Matthew Chapman of Becker Schroader & Chapman PC
