EDWARDSVILLE –  Collinsville homeowners filed a breach of contract lawsuit against a contractor for allegedly failing to complete a solar installation project.

Plaintiffs Benjamin and Laura Cole filed the lawsuit in the Madison County Circuit Court against C.A. Jones, Inc., citing breach of contract.

According to the lawsuit, the Coles entered into an agreement with C.A. Jones for the installation of solar panels and batteries for their Collinsville home on Oct. 12, 2022. The total cost of the project was $62,000, and the Coles made a down payment of $49,000 to C.A. Jones as per their agreement.

The Coles claim the defendant installed some brackets on their roof in July 2023 but has since done no other work. According to the Coles, the defendant has breached their contract by failing to complete the installation as detailed in their agreement.

The plaintiffs are seeking damages in excess of $50,000 for the cost to complete the project, plus interest, court costs, attorneys fees, and any other relief the court deems proper. They are represented in this case by attorney Steven W. Selby of Smith, Mendenhall, Selby & Cole in Alton.
