BELLEVILLE – A man claims he suffered internal bleeding after allegedly being served a beverage with glass in it while dining at the 54th Street Grill in Shiloh.

Plaintiff James Pratt filed the lawsuit in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against 54th Street Grill, an unnamed manager, John Doe, and unknown employee, Jane Doe, of 54th Street Grill, citing negligence.

According to the lawsuit, Pratt was a patron at the 54th Street Grill in Shiloh on Aug. 22, 2023, which was managed and supervised by manager John Doe. Pratt alleges that while he was at the establishment, he was served a drink by employee Jane Doe. He claims that when he sipped his drink, he felt a sharp pain in his mouth. Pratt alleges that when he spit out his drink, he found a piece of glass in it.

Pratt claims he was forced to go to the hospital, where it was determined that he was experiencing internal bleeding. As part of his treatment, he had to undergo X-rays, MRIs, and other follow-up visits.

Pratt alleges the defendants were negligent in serving him a drink that had glass in it.

The plaintiff is seeking damages, plus attorneys' fees, court costs, and any other relief the court deems proper. He is represented in this case by attorney Michael E. Reid of M. Reid Legal Solutions, LLC in Edwardsville.
