EDWARDSVILLE – A shopper is suing a Collinsville Walmart after he allegedly slipped and injured himself in the store.

Plaintiff Ronald Bard filed the lawsuit in the Madison County Circuit Court against Wal-Mart Inc., Christopher Odell, and an unnamed manager John Doe, citing negligence.

According to the lawsuit, Bard was a patron at a Walmart Supercenter store in Collinsville on Oct. 20, 2020, which was managed and supervised by Odell and Doe. He claims that while he was shopping, he slipped on mud, severely injuring himself.

According to Bard, the defendants negligently failed to properly maintain the premises to protect the safety of its customers.

Bard alleges he suffered bodily injuries, which has caused him severe pain and suffering, mental anguish and will impact his ability to earn income and lead a normal life. The lawsuit states that Bard has incurred medical expenses and will continue to require the services of medical staff to recover.

The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus interest, court costs and any other relief the court deems proper. He is represented in this case by attorney Jason D. Guerra of Goldblatt + Singer in St. Louis.
