EDWARDSVILLE — A woman claims she was injured when her car, which was parked in her private driveway, was struck by another vehicle and crashed into her home.

Tia Taylor filed a complaint June 17 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Tyler Wayne Toenyes and Nicky Patterson, alleging negligence.

Taylor claims in her suit that on Jan. 31, her 2000 GMC Savanna was parked in her driveway on Ably Street in Alton. She alleges that on that date, Toenyes was driving Patterson's vehicle on Alby Street and collided with her parked car which then struck her house.

Taylor alleges she suffered "extensive" injuries, including to her back as well as internal injuries that caused mental anguish and required medical treatment. She also alleges she suffered damage to her home and car as a result of the crash.

Taylor claims Patterson knew or should have known that Toenyes was an inexperienced driver at the time she loaned him the vehicle. She also claims Toenyes was speeding and failed to slow down, brake or steer to avoid the collision.

Taylor seeks compensation of more than $50,000 and all other proper relief. She is represented by Rodney Caffey of The Caffey Law Firm LLC.
