Lawsuits

BELLEVILLE — Three men are suing an East St. Louis Hasuon convenience store after they were allegedly attacked by third parties.

Justin Walker, Brandon Moss and Steven Jassen filed a complaint Oct. 16 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Hasuon Inc.

According to the plaintiffs' complaint, they were at the Hasuon convenience store on Kingshighway in East St. Louis on May 30. They allege that while on the premises, they were attacked by "third-parties present at the premises." The plaintiffs claim Walker and Moss were shot and Jassen was battered during the alleged attack.

The plaintiffs claim Hasuon has had previous violent crimes occur on its premises during the last five years, including an incident involving a burglary with a knife "or cutting instrument" as well as a robbery with a gun.

The plaintiffs claim Hasuon knew or should of known about the potential for further violent crime and failed to keep the premises safe for business invitees. They also claim Hasuon could have provided security personnel or stopped people from loitering around the convenience store.

The plaintiffs seek compensation of more than $50,000 and all other proper relief. They are represented by Shari Murphy of The Offices of Sherri Murphy LLC in Wood River.
