EDWARDSVILLE — A doctor is suing Granite City medical professionals, alleging he was terminated from a position and then slandered.
Dr. Rajeev Varma filed a complaint March 7 in Madison County Circuit Court against Marl Edward Cunningham, Sam White, Michael Adams, Gateway Regional Medical Center, Granite City Hospitalist Specialist, Dr. Daniel Doolittle, Dr. Othniel Doolittle, Integritas Physicians, et al, alleging defamation and libel.
According to the complaint, Varma alleges he was defamed through false statements over a broadcast. The suit states the defendants committed libel against the plaintiff, which made Varma out to be incompetent, mentally insane or unstable after the plaintiff was terminated from his position with the defendant.
Varma seeks compensatory and punitive damages, as well as cost of suit and all other just relief. The plaintiff is representing himself.
