Healthcare providers accused of negligence following patient's death

EDWARDSVILLE — A woman is suing healthcare providers for allegedly providing negligent care to a patient until his death in September 2016. 

Delphya Stewart, as independent executor of the estate of Arthur O'Neal Stewart, deceased, filed a complaint on July 25 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Covenant Care Midwest, doing business as Cedar Ridge Health Care Center, alleging they failed to ensure the health and safety of the decedent. 

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to provide an update care plan for skin integrity and wound care intervention. The plaintiff also alleges they failed to provide wound care treatments in accordance with the physician's order. 

As a result, of the defendant's negligent treatment, Arthur O'Neal Stewart suffered unstageable wounds that resulted in disability, disfigurement and great pain and suffering until his death on Sept. 29, 2016. 

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount that will fairly and adequately compensate the plaintiff's losses and damages. She is represented by Eva E. Golabek of Kralovec, Jambois & Schwartz in Chicago.
