Hawk Properties Inc. files suit against Allstate after denial of property damage claim

BELLEVILLE – The owner of an East St. Louis property alleges its insurer breached its obligations when it denied a claim for damages.

Hawk Properties Inc. filed a complaint on Oct. 25 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Allstate Insurance Co. alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on July 27, its property sustained damage due to a collapse and requested to defendant payment for the coverage claim. Despite having a policy in full force and effect, plaintiff alleges the defendant denied coverage and it was forced to undertake and pay for the cleanup and repair of the damaged property. 

The plaintiff holds Allstate Insurance Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to fulfill its obligation under the contract.

The plaintiff seeks judgment in an amount in excess of that which is required to cover jurisdiction upon the court plus prejudgment interest, penalties, attorney's fees and costs of Court. It is represented by Alvin C. Paulson in Belleville.
