Driver says motorist negligently pulled out in front of her at Carlyle and College Plaza

Car accident 32

BELLEVILLE — A driver claims motorist Bailie Scott was negligent while driving and caused a March 2015 collision on Carlyle Avenue.

Shantries Baker filed a complaint in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Scott alleging that the defendant failed in her duty to exercise ordinary care for the safety of others.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, on March 19, 2015, while operating her 2008 Kia Sorrento traveling east on Carlyle Avenue, she collided with the defendant's 2003 Ford Escape when Scott attempted to enter the intersection from College Plaza Drive. As a result, Baker claims she suffered physical injuries, lost wages and medical expenses.

The plaintiff holds Scott responsible because she allegedly failed to keep a proper lookout for traffic, failed to yield the right of way and was driving too fast while attempting to cross an intersection.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in an amount greater than $50,000, plus costs of suit and any other further relief to which the court deems appropriate. She is represented by John H. Leskera of Leskera Law Firm in Collinsville.
