Motorist alleges driver made sudden U-turn

EDWARDSVILLE — A driver is suing another motorist for allegedly making a sudden U-turn in front of her and causing a collision.

Susan Stewart filed a complaint on Feb. 27 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Kenneth Andrews and employer Rice Transport LLC, alleging Andrews failed to make a safe U-turn to avoid collision.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 12, she was operating a motor vehicle traveling Southbound when Andrews, who was operating his employers vehicle, made a U-turn in front of the her vehicle, causing Steward to strike the rear of his vehicle and travel into the ditch.

As a result, Steward claims she suffered physical injuries, loss of wages and incurred medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges Andrews failed to keep a proper lookout for other vehicles, failed to properly apply brakes and failed to signal his intention to turn left and make a U-turn.

The plaintiff seeks a judgment in excess of $50,000, plus costs of this suit and other further relief the court deems just and proper.
