EDWARDSVILLE – An Illinois father is suing over the alleged mishandling of child support payments by his employer.

Robert C. Williams filed the suit May 5 in Madison County Circuit Court against Premier CDL Training Services LLC.

The plaintiff is obligated to make child support payments for his two children, according to the suit, which alleges that the plaintiff utilized the defendant's payroll system for the automatic withholding of those payments, which were then to be forwarded to a state disbursement unit.

According to the complaint, the funds were withheld but were never forwarded. This has been occurring for at least six years, the suit alleges, with damages totaling more than $30,000 in missing child support payments, plus statutory damages and interest.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant of an amount in excess of $50,000 plus other relief as allowed by law. He is represented by Shari L. Murphy of The Law Offices of Shari L. Murphy LLC in Wood River.
