Two Illinois men are suing a motorist and Travelers Insurance over injuries they say they suffered as the result of an automobile collision.

Artiece J. Hudson and Larry T. Forrest filed the lawsuit Dec. 28 in Madison County Circuit Court against Bradley P. Wheaton and Travelers Insurance Company, alleging invasion of privacy.

According to the complaint, on June 17, Hudson was driving a vehicle east on Hawthorne Avenue in Roxana, and Forrest was a passenger. At the same time, Wheaton was driving a truck, also east on Hawthorne, when he collided with the rear of Hudson's vehicle, the suit says.

The suit states Wheaton did not slow down to avoid colliding with the plaintiff's vehicle, was driving at a greater speed than reasonable, failed to brake and failed to keep a proper lookout or obey the traffic signal at Hawthorne and State Route 111.

The complaint says the collision caused both plaintiffs bodily injury, specifically to the back, neck and head. The suit states the plaintiffs have spent large sums of money for medical care, have experienced pain and suffering, have lost wages, and have suffered a loss of earning capacity; they expect those to continue into the future.

The suit also alleges Travelers agents contacted the plaintiffs' employer and treating physician without prior authorization. They allege this is an unauthorized intrusion of privacy, for which plaintiffs allege anguish and suffering, the suit says.

Hudson and Forrest seek of at least $50,000, plus court costs and attorney fees from Wheaton, and at least $50,000, court costs and other relief the court deems proper from Travelers Insurance. They are represented by attorneys Rodney D. Caffey and Ralph J. Mendelsohn of The Caffey Law Firm LLC of Godfrey.
