A woman has filed suit against the driver who she claims drove off the road and struck a rock, causing her to sustain multiple injuries.
Bria Davis claims she was riding in a vehicle defendant Sarah K. Williamson was driving south on Interstate 55 when Williamson lost control of the vehicle, causing it to swerve off the road, down an embankment and into a rock.
Because of the collision, Davis suffered a lacerated spleen and an accumulation of blood in her abdomen, which is a condition known as hemoperitoneum, according to the complaint filed May 7 in St. Clair County Circuit Court. She also suffered shoulder, head, neck, hip and back injuries; incurred medical costs; and lost wages, the suit states.
Davis blames Williamson for causing the collision, saying she negligently drove after drinking alcohol, left the road, failed to keep a proper lookout and failed to keep her vehicle under proper control.
In her complaint, Davis is seeking a judgment of at least $50,000, plus interest, costs and other relief the court deems just.
Brian Stokes of The Stokes Law Office in St. Louis will be representing her.
