A St. Clair County man is accused of crashing his truck into the side of another car while driving in Belleville.
Carrie L. Abernathy filed a lawsuit Dec. 4 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against David D. Smith.
Abernathy says she was driving her Saturn SC west on West Main Street in December 2010. As she crossed the intersection of North 48th Street, Abernathy claims Smith, driving a Ford 500 SE, tried to make a left turn from North 48th onto West Main. Smith allegedly turned before Abernathy cleared the intersection and crashed into the rear passenger side of her car.
Abernathy claims she was hurt in the crash and is suing Smith for negligence. She asks for more than $50,000 in damages for medical expenses and court fees.
