A woman claims she and her minor son sustained severe injuries after a driver crossed the center lane and collided with her vehicle.
Martha Penning Smith filed a lawsuit Nov. 4 in Madison County Circuit Court against Sarah Sabol.
In her complaint, Smith claims she was driving north on Godfrey Road in Godfrey on May 2 at about 5:15 p.m. when Sabol, who was driving south on the same road, crossed the center line and struck Smith's vehicle.
Because of the collision, Smith and her son sustained severe injuries, lost her earning capacity and experienced pain and suffering, according to the complaint. In addition, they incurred medical costs, the suit states.
Smith blames Sabol for causing the collision, saying she negligently allowed her vehicle to cross the center lane, failed to keep her vehicle under control and failed to keep a proper lookout.
In her three-count complaint, Smith is seeking a judgment of more than $150,000, plus costs.
