Cahokia Shop 'n Save store sued over woman's slip and fall

A St. Clair County woman is suing a Cahokia grocery store and its manager after she allegedly slipped and hurt herself on a wet floor.

Patricia King filed a lawsuit Sept. 7 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Shop 'N Save Warehouse Foods Inc. and Pete Nissen.

King says she was shopping at the Camp Jackson Road store in July when she slipped on a clear liquid on the floor as she was leaving the store. King contends she the fall caused serious injuries to her neck, shoulder and back that required substantial medical treatment and caused her pain and suffering.

King accuses Shop 'N Save and Nissen of negligence for allegedly failing to make the premises safe for customers. King is asking for more than $100,000 in damages to compensate for medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering.

Attorneys Thomas C. Rich and Kristina D. Cooksey of Fairview Heights are representing King.
