The parents of a St. Clair County man are suing the man they say killed their son in a crash while allegedly driving drunk.

Anette Daniels, as the administrator of the estate of Theodore Daniels III, and her husband, TheodoreDaniels Jr., filed a lawsuit June 13 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Juhmal B. Eastland.

According to the complaint, Theodore Daniels III was driving south on Illinois Route 159 in July 2009. As he approached the intersection of Schmidt Road in St. Clair County, Eastland, who was driving north on Route 159, allegedly crossed the center line and crashed into Daniels.

Daniels' parents say he died a few hours later from injuries he received in the crash. The Danielses claim Eastland was drunk at the time of the crash.

The Danielses accuse Eastland of negligence and are suing him for the wrongful death of their son. They are asking for more than $150,000 in damages for medical expenses and court costs.

Attorney Kevin E. Myers of St. Louis is representing the Danielses.
