Nine new asbestos cases filed in Madison County July 12-16

A total of nine new asbestos lawsuits were filed in Madison County Circuit Court during the week of July 12 through July 16.

The following complaints were filed:

--Dale T. Johnson of Illinois, a service station attendant at a Mobile Oil Service Station in 1962, a helper at Pepsi-Cola from 1962 until 1963, a packer at Ober Nester Glass Co. from 1963 until 1964, a warehouseman for Henges Co. from 1964 until 1966 and a warehouseman at Barnard Shoe Industrial Supply Co. from 1966 until 1967, claims asbestosis. Johnson will be represented by Elizabeth V. Heller and Robert Rowland of Goldenberg, Heller, Antognoli and Rowland in Edwardsville. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-745.

--Jeanine Johnson of Nebraska claims her recently deceased husband, Dennis S. Johnson, developed mesothelioma after his work as a union heat and frost insulator from 1957 until 1978 and as automotive mechanic from 1958 until 1959. Jeanine Johnson will be represented by Andrew O'Brien, Christopher Thoron, Christina J. Nielson, Bartholomew J. Baumstark and Gerald J. FitzGerald in St. Louis.

--Erwin Kriegisch of Wisconsin, a welder, fabricator, smelter, maintenance worker, machinist, foundry worker and laborer at various locations from 1954 until 1989, claims mesothelioma. Kriegisch will be represented by G. Michael Stewart and Jill Price of Simmons, Browder, Gianaris, Angelides and Barnerd in East Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-738.

--Thomasina Kirkland of South Carolina claims her recently deceased husband, Joseph Kirkland Sr., developed mesothelioma after his work as a laborer, mechanic and maintenance worker from 1980 until 2004. Thomasina Kirkland will be represented by Christopher R. Guinn and Christopher J. Levy of Simmons, Browder, Gianaris, Angelides and Barnerd in East Alton. --Drexel Mills of Mississippi, a laborer at various locations from 1948 until 1960 and from 1963 until 1964, claims lung cancer. Mills will be represented by Robert Phillips and Perry J. Browder of SimmonsCooper in East Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-737.

--Matthew Ottoline of Texas claims his recently deceased mother, Kathryne Ottoline, developed mesothelioma after her work as an accountant and food specialist from the 1980s until the 1990s. Kathryne Ottoline was also secondarily exposed to asbestos fibers through her father, who worked as an airplane mechanic at American Airlines from 1958 until 1987, according to the complaint. Matthew Ottoline will be represented by Shane F. Hampton and Paul M. Dix of Simmons, Browder, Gianaris, Angelides and Barnerd in East Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-736.

--Charles D. and Angela Shobe of Wisconsin claim Charles D. Shobe developed mesothelioma after his work at an auto body shop in 1946, as a member of the U.S. Army until 1949, at Kerrigan Iron Works from 1949 until 1951, as a welder for Crosley/Bendix from 1951 until 1954, as a mechanical worker in the U.S. Army in 1954, as a master sergeant in the U.S. Army until his retirement in 1972 and as a welder for TEC Systems from 1972 until 1990. The Shobes will be represented by Elizabeth V. Heller and Robert Rowland of Goldenberg, Heller, Antognoli and Rowland in Edwardsville. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-734.

--Joseph and Georgia Taylor of Utah claim Joseph Taylor developed mesothelioma after his work as a dairy farm worker, as a member of the U.S. Army from 1953 until 1955, as a drywall installer and finish worker from 1957 until 1958, as a laborer at Raymond Mayberry Excavation and Waterfall Construction from 1958 until 1963, as a laborer at his own excavation company from 1963 until 2010 and as a school bus driver. The Taylors will be represented by Randy L. Gori and Barry Julian of Gori, Julian and Associates in Edwardsville. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-733.

--Kenneth Whalen of Wisconsin, a boiler maker, mold helper, fire control technician, metallurgical technician, industrial engineer and supervisor from 1948 until 2002, claims mesothelioma. Whalen will be represented by Randy S. Cohn of Simmons, Browder, Gianaris, Angelides and Barnerd in East Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-739.
