I-64 accident is subject of St. Clair County suit

The owners of a 2007 Nissan say their car sustained more than $7,000 worth of damages after a St. Clair County man hit it while on the interstate.

Jeremy and Kayla Mackrell filed a lawsuit June 26 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Kenneth W. Crawford Jr.

The Mackrells say their Nissan was traveling on Interstate 64 on Aug. 26 when Crawford collided with it, causing the vehicle to be depreciated by $7,183.03 and causing them to incur expenses of $1,103.32.

In addition, they incurred medical bills of more than $15,000 but less than $50,000 to treat contusions, lacerations, sprains, strains of their heads, backs, shoulders, arms and legs, plus lost income, according to the complaint.

Crawford negligently failed to yield, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to reduce his speed to avoid an accident and used an improper lane, the suit states.

In the two-count suit, the Mackrells are seeking $8,286.35, plus more than $15,000 but less than $50,000 for medical bills. They are also asking for costs and other relief the court deems just.

Ronald D. Robinson of Evans and Dixon in St. Louis will be representing them.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-340.
