I-255 accident is subject of injury suit

A Cahokia woman has filed suit against another woman, alleging her neck, back and knees were injured after a rear-end collision.

Brenda Askew says she was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Astro north on I-255 near mile post 15 in Centreville on June 24, 2007, when Robin Jackson, who was driving a 2006 Nissan Sentra in the same direction, hit the back of her car.

In addition to her injuries, Askew was made sick, sore, lame, disordered and disabled, received injuries to the soft tissues of her cervical, thoracic and lumbar areas and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint filed April 17 in St. Clair County Circuit Court. She also suffered disability, experienced pain and suffering and lost money from lost wages, the suit states.

Askew says Jackson was negligent by failing to reduce her speed to avoid an accident, by failing to keep a proper lookout, by failing to keep her vehicle under proper control, by failing to stop or swerve to avoid a collision and by driving too fast.

Askew is seeking a judgment in excess of $50,000, plus costs.

She is represented by David C. Nelson of Nelson and Nelson in Belleville.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-200.
