Trucking firm sued by insurer over premiums

An insurance company is suing a trucking company for more than $60,000 worth of money it says the company owes in premiums.

Auto-Owners Insurance Company filed suit April 14 in Madison County Circuit Court against Petroff Trucking Company.

Auto-Owners says Petroff contracted with it from March 26, 2007, through March 26, 2008.

Under the terms of the contract, premiums were estimated at the beginning of the policy, but the final premium would be determined after an audit at the end of the policy, according to the complaint.

Auto-Owners concluded the total earned premium was $79,631. It says Petroff still owes $61,508.

However, Petroff has refused to pay the final premium, the suit states.

In addition to the money it is due, Auto-Owners is seeking interest, costs and other relief the court deems just.

Vincent D. Vogler and James E. Klenc of The Vogler Law Firm in St. Louis will be representing them.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-380.
