The Village of Maryville filed a petition for demolition against Ryan Giacolleto in Madison County Circuit Court June 6, alleging Giacolleto's property at 2938 Maryville Road is unsafe.
Represented by Stephen Wigginton and J. Brian Manion of Belleville, Maryville alleges that despite a notice sent to Giacolleto, he has failed to put "the three sheds/out-buildings and well" in a safe condition.
The village also claims Giacolleto has failed to present a complete rehabilitation plan to the Maryville building and zoning administrator or failed to demolish the structures.
"The structures are unfit for human occupancy and have numerous structural defects rendering them dangerous and unsafe, and is otherwise property subject to demolition," the petition states.
Maryville is requesting an expedited hearing and an order allowing it to demolish the structures and to recover all costs of the demolition and rehabilitation of the land, including court costs and attorneys' fees from the owners of the property, and any other relief deemed just and proper under the circumstances.
