A woman is suing over claims she was fired after requesting time off work during a high-risk pregnancy.

Nakeshia S. Glispie filed a lawsuit July 18 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Holten Meat Inc., Shara Forrester and Mitch Abbett, citing wrongful discharge.

According to the complaint, Glispie was employed by Holten Meat at its St. Clair facility from Feb. 9, 2011, until 2013, when she informed her supervisor, Forrester, of her high-risk pregnancy Feb. 25, 2013, with a doctor's note and requested time off under the Family Medical Leave Act. Glispie says she experienced harassment from Forrester and another supervisor, Abbett, and her employment was wrongfully terminated March 20, 2013, in retaliation for her FMLA claim.

Glispie is seeking more than $50,000 in damages. She is being represented in the case by attorney Michael R. Wesley in Wood River.

St. Clair County Circuit Court Case No. 14-L-557.
