Lowery authors article in Illinois Bar Journal

Margaret J. Lowery, a Belleville lawyer who practices health care law, is the author of “Preserving the Peer Review Privilege in Med-Mal Cases,” an article which appears in the April 2014 issue of the Illinois Bar Journal, the monthly magazine of the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA).

In the article, Lowery provides an overview of the Medical Studies Act, which must be followed or the privilege is lost. The article also notes that properly performed peer review is not subject to discovery in med-mal litigation.

Lowery is a member of the ISBA Standing Committees on Corporate Law and Legal Education, Admission and Competence.

The 32,000-member ISBA (isba.org), with offices in Springfield and Chicago, provides professional services to Illinois lawyers, and education and services to the public through a website (illinoislawyerfinder.com), consumer brochures, and distribution of legal information.
