Majority of Illinois Independents in favor of government spending cuts, poll says

As Illinois lawmakers strive to solve the state budget impasse, Illinoisans have spoken out loud and clear. In a recent poll released by Americans for Prosperity Illinois, 62 percent of Independents are in favor of spending cuts, while a mere 9 percent support taxes hikes.

SPRINGFIELD – Lawyer Stephen Tillery wants all Illinois Supreme Court Justices except Lloyd Karmeier to consider restoring a $10 billion judgment he won against cigarette maker Philip Morris in 2003. On Nov. 17, Robert King of Tillery’s firm moved to recall a mandate the Court issued against the judgment in 2005. King also moved for Karmeier’s recusal or disqualification, citing an objective and reasonable public perception of his bias in favor of Philip Morris.

An Illinois corporation is suing over unpaid rent on a commercial property. RLP Development Company, of Madison County, filed the suit Oct. 27 in Madison County Circuit Court against Extreme Vapor, Brock Boyer and Arlyne Floyd. The plaintiff and defendants entered into a lease agreement May 27, 2014 in which the defendants agreed to pay rent on a property at 1023 Century Drive, Edwardsville.

Man sues former employer for alleged age discrimination

A man is filing a suit against his former employer in the wake of his termination. Michael Barry filed the suit Oct. 27 in Madison County Circuit Court against Schenker Logistics, Glenn McKeithan and Lee Sininger. In October 2011, plaintiff began working for Schenker as Transportation Operations Manager.
