Walgreens accused of racial discrimination in federal class action
Tiffany B. Klosener Walgreens is accused of systemic racial discrimation and segregation against black employees nationwide, according to a class action lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in the Southern District of Illinois.
Federal inmate found guilty of possessing knife in prison
Joseph Sanders, 37, an inmate at the maximum security federal penitentiary at Marion, was found guilty July 18 of possessing a weapon in the prison following a bench trial, announced Ronald J. Tenpas, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois.

Madison County Circuit Judge Nicholas Byron has ruled that owners of an Alton Days Inn hotel are not responsible for the actions of an angry hotel guest who shot a delivery man because his pizza was cold.

St. Joseph's Hospital of Highland A man who worked as a contract employee for a physician at St. Joseph's Hospital in Highland is suing the hospital for more than $50,000 because he fell to the floor after stepping in water.
Restaurant allegedly negligent for cleaning floor with slippery substance
Pasta House in Fairview Heights Pamela Bretz, who fell with great force and violence while entering the Fairview Heights Pasta House, filed a personal injury suit in St. Clair County Circuit Court July 8 seeking at least $50,000 in damages.
Nursing home administered illegal drugs, suit claims
Renaissance at Belleville Charles Kilcauski, the independant administrator of the estate of Peter Rowlinitus, filed suit against Renaissance at Belleville claiming it allowed illegal drugs in the nursing home.
Federal jury turns down plaintiff's $5 million suit against Pharmacia
An Illinois Power electrician who claims she contracted skin diseases and feared cancer from exposure to PCB, lost a $5 million case against Pharmacia Corp. Tuesday in federal court.
