Belleville bicentennial group claims media company has failed to fully pay for entertainment

A non-profit community organization is suing a media company and two individuals for alleged breach of agreement in a contract dispute from 2014.

Belleville Cultural Enrichment Organization, doing business as Belleville Bicentennial Anniversary Committee, sued Gorilla Grid Media, Alex Flores and Kellie Flores of Belleville on  Jan. 13 in St. Clair County Circuit Court citing unjust enrichment and fraud.

According to the suit, the plaintiff and defendants made an agreement in 2013 regarding musical performances to be provided at the Belleville Bicentennial Anniversary event. The committee allegedly made several payments totaling tens of thousands of dollars to the media company between September 2013 and June 2014.

The suit states that the defendant made only partial payment to the performers they had booked. Repeated requests for full payment were unsuccessful; the committee claims that $86,000 remains owed to the musicians.

Claiming breach of contractual obligation, the plaintiffs seek $101,000 in damages, plus interest, attorneys’ fees and costs.

They are represented in the case by Garrett Hoerner of Becker, Hoerner, Thompson & Ysursa, Belleville.
