Lakin and Chapman form new firm, set sights on Southwest

Lakin

The Lakin Law Firm in Wood River has been renamed LakinChapman LLC in a new partnership between attorney Brad Lakin and retired appellate court judge Charles Chapman.

Lakin issued a press release indicating the firm has added an office in Chicago and is looking to expand its presence in the Southwest.

"For the last several years, we have been planning to create a brand-new firm with a new organization that reflects our growing national practice," Lakin stated in the release.

Lakin Law Firm founder Lowell Thomas Lakin was sentenced in October to six years in federal prison on various drug charges. He is incarcerated at the Forrest City Federal Correctional Complex in eastern Arkansas.

Chapman stated in the press release, "Our new firm is being organized around our key practice areas and will help us retain and recruit exceptional trial lawyers to help us provide the highest level of quality representation to our clients."

The firm will be divided into seven practice areas, including maritime law, railroad law, complex litigation, nursing home abuse, workers compensation, personal injury and appellate law, the release stated.

"While we're changing and growing, we are still committed to maintaining the mission that has guided The Lakin Law Firm from its inception: to give working men and women the kind of quality, legal representation they need and deserve," Lakin said.
