Widow sues psychiatrist claiming husband's depression not properly treated

A Madison County widow is suing a psychiatrist she claims failed to properly treat the depression that led to her husband's suicide.

Robin Lynn, as special administrator of the estate of Bradley Lynn, filed a lawsuit June 21 in Madison County Circuit Court against Dr. Joy Webster and Illini Medical Associates SC.

Dr. Webster is a specialist in psychiatry and neurology working for Illini Medical Associates. According to the complaint, in January 2012 Dr. Webster began treating Bradley Lynn who was having suicidal tendencies. According to Lynn's wife, Dr. Webster failed to properly diagnose him with bi-polar disorder and failed to monitor him while prescribing him medication.

Lynn claims her husband's depression worsened and he committed suicide weeks after beginning care with Dr. Webster. She claims Dr. Webster was negligent in failing to recognize the degree of her husband's disorder and depression. Lynn accuses the doctor and her employer of wrongful death and asks for more than $225,000 in damages for medical bills and costs of the lawsuit.

Attorneys Samantha S. Unsell of Belleville and Edward W. Unsell of East Alton represent Lynn.
