Wheelchair-bound man sues St. Clair Bowl over parking lot injury

A man claims he suffered severe and extensive injuries when he fell into a hole in a parking lot while attempting to navigate his wheelchair across the lot.

Ronald E. Dintelmann filed a lawsuit April 8 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against St. Clair Bowl.

In his complaint, Dintelmann claims he was exiting the bowling alley on April 20, 2012, when he hit a hole in the pavement, causing his wheelchair to fall.

As a result, Dintelmann suffered severe and extensive injuries, was hindered and prevented from attending to his usual duties and affairs and incurred medical costs, the suit states. He also experienced pain and suffering and endured disability, according to the complaint.

Dintelmann blames St. Clair Bowl for causing his injuries, saying it negligently failed to provide a safe place for him to move, failed to provide a safe exit, allowed the pavement to remain in a state of disrepair, failed to fix the pavement, failed to inspect the premises and failed to warn of a defective condition on the premises.

Dintelmann is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs. He is being represented by Arthur W. Morris of Traughber and Morris in Columbia.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number 14-L-267.
