Driver violently struck vehicle near Route 203 intersection, suit says

A woman has filed suit against the driver who she claims violently struck her vehicle, causing her to sustain neck and left shoulder injuries.

Mariah Perkins claims she was driving on North Street near its intersection with Illinois 203 when defendant Courtney Jo Colbert struck her vehicle.

Because of the collision, Perkins incurred medical costs of $5,000, has endured an impaired ability to enjoy life because of her injuries and has suffered pain and discomfort, according to the complaint filed Nov. 19 in Madison County Circuit Court.

Perkins blames Colbert for causing the collision, saying she negligently drove too fast, failed to stop or swerve to avoid a collision, failed to keep a proper lookout and violated a red traffic signal.

In her complaint, Perkins is seeking a judgment in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits of the court, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.

Scott L. Kolker of Kolker and Germeroth in Clayton will be representing her.
