Med mal suit claims treatment of brain-damaged child will cost tens of millions

A woman has filed suit against the hospital where her daughter was born, alleging the doctors failed to treat an infection that caused her daughter to suffer from permanent brain damage.

Tiffany Corbin claims her daughter, Madalynn Corbin, was born on June 28 with Group B Strep and is permanently brain damaged. As a result of her condition, Madalynn Corbin will incur tens of millions of dollars in medical costs in the future and will remain permanently inhibited from working, talking, walking, thinking or enjoying her life, according to the complaint filed April 16 in Madison County Circuit Court.

Tiffany Corbin claims Dr. Soldrea Thompson of St. Anthony’s Health Center was treating her throughout her pregnancy, but failed to evaluate or treat Tiffany Corbin for her risks of infection while her daughter was in her womb.

In her two-count complaint, Tiffany Corbin is seeking a judgment of more than $150,000, plus costs.

Thomas Q. Keefe Jr. of Keefe and Keefe in Belleville will be representing her.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 13-L-592.
