BELLEVILLE — An estate administrator is suing health care providers alleging they failed to treat a patient's heart failure, resulting in her death.

Glenda Brown, as administrator of the estate of Geraldine Richardson, deceased, filed a complaint Jan. 31 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Memorial Hospital and Dr. Muhammad Ansari, alleging they negligently allowed Richardson to die without rendering necessary medical and hospital treatment.

According to the complaint, on Jan. 25, 2017, Richardson was admitted to Memorial Hospital with complaints of weakness and chest pain. The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to adequately treat the decedent's diabetic and heart failure conditions.

As a result, Richardson died Feb. 1, 2017, the suit states.

The plaintiff alleges she has been deprived of Richardson's love, affection, comfort and guidance.

Brown seeks trial by jury, damages of not less than $50,000, plus costs of court. She is represented by attorney Bruce N. Cook of Cook, Bartholomew, Shevlin & Cook LLP in Belleville.
