EDWARDSVILLE — An Alton woman claims she was injured when she tripped and fell in the Alton Home Depot parking lot.

Jacquelyn Williams filed a complaint Jan. 11 in Madison County Circuit Court against Home Depot USA Inc., alleging failure to exercise reasonable care in maintaining its property.

According to the complaint, Williams alleges that on June 8 she was walking from her parked car to enter the Home Depot store in Alton when she tripped and fell due to an uneven surface in the parking lot.

Williams claims she sustained serious injuries, which resulted in medical and hospital bills and was prevented from attending to her usual duties and affairs.

The plaintiff alleges Home Depot failed to correct the dangerous condition in the parking lot and failed to give adequate warning of the existing danger.

Williams seeks trial by jury, judgment greater than $50,000, plus court costs. She is represented by attorney Lanny Darr of Darr Law Offices Ltd. in Alton.
