Protestant Memorial Medical Center accused of wrongful death

BELLEVILLE — A Belleville care center is accused of failing to properly care for a patient, resulting in her death. 

Cassandra Conrad, as special administrator of the estate of Linda S. Runnels, filed a complaint on Oct. 4 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Protestant Memorial Medical Center Inc.

According to the complaint, Runnels was a resident at Memorial Care Center when she allegedly suffered from septic shock, pneumonia, and respiratory failure. 

The plaintiff alleges the defendant did not timely respond to Runnels' abnormal lab reports. 

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount greater than $50,000, plus costs. She is represented by John J. Hopkins of Gori, Julian & Associates PC in Alton.
