EDWARDSVILLE — A man's daughter filed a wrongful death suit against two Wood River homeowners after her father allegedly fell down the steps.

Theresa A. Brown, as administrator of the estate of Junior Douglas Brown, filed a complaint on Sept. 11 in  Madison County Circuit Court against Terry Schenk and Bette Schenk.

According to the complaint, Junior Brown was walking up the steps to the Schenks home when he fell. He suffered severe injuries leading to his death, the complaint states.

The plaintiff claims the decedent's family has been deprived of his affection and support. The plaintiff also claims she incurred medical and funeral expenses.

The plaintiff alleges the Schenks negligently maintained the steps without a hand railing and constructed it without proper building permits.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of more than $50,000. She is represented by Laura A. Cole of Smith, Mendenhall, Selby & Cole in Alton.
