Motorcycle crash near Highway 203 prompts lawsuit

EDWARDSVILLE — The passenger on a motorcycle that crashed near Maryville Road and Highway 203 blames her driver for the accident.

Alexandra D. Starkey filed a complaint on Sept. 6 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Robert Bowler, alleging the motorcycle driver failed to operate his motorcycle with due regard for her safety.

According to the complaint, Starkey was riding on a motorcycle driven by Bowler when they struck an elevated curb. Starkey flew off the motorcycle and sustained severe injuries, the complaint states. Starkey alleges Bowler was under the influence of drugs and speeding when the accident occured.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages in excess of $50,000, plus costs of this action. She is represented by Brian M. Wendler of Wendler Law PC in Edwardsville.
