GREENSFELDER: Jud Deloss joins Illinois Governor for signing of behavioral Health Bills

Greensfelder issued the following announcement on Aug. 23.

Greensfelder Officer Gerald E. (Jud) DeLoss joined Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner and other advocates for the signing of important behavioral health legislation in a ceremony Aug. 22, 2018, in Springfield, Illinois. DeLoss helped author two of the bills on behalf of the Illinois Association for Behavioral Health.

SB 682 removes prior authorization requirements for substance use disorder treatment, and SB 1707 creates the strongest mental health and addiction parity protections in the country, building upon the federal Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act. Overall, the laws are expected to improve the way behavioral health coverage is treated and strengthen the fight against the opioid crisis.

DeLoss, an officer in Greensfelder’s Health Care industry group, is a former chair of both the Health Information and Technology Practice Group and the Behavioral Health Task Force of the American Health Lawyers Association. He is a frequent author and lecturer on health care topics nationally and internationally. Earlier this year, he testified before a House subcommittee as the subject matter legal expert on legislation related to patient information privacy related to substance abuse disorders. His clients include behavioral health care providers, health information technology vendors, federally qualified health centers, hospitals and research organizations, and health care industry trade and professional associations.
