EDWARDSVILLE — A barge crew member accused his employer of failing to provide a safe work environment.

Kevin D. Mogensen filed a complaint on July 31 in Madison County Circuit Court against SCF Lewis and Clark Fleeting, alleging violations of the Jones Act.

According to the complaint, Mogensen was injured while loading corn from a conveyor into a barge earlier this year. He suffered lost wages, loss of earning capacity, pain and suffering and disability, the complaint states. Mogensen claims the barge owners failed to provide a suitable equipment and adequate supervision.

Mogensen seeks a jury trial and damages of more than $50,000. He is represented by Gregory M. Tobin of Pratt & Tobin in East Alton.
