Roofing contractor alleged to have caused damage to Bethalto condo

Lawsuits
Contract 02

EDWARDSVILLE – A condominium association is alleged to have hired an unlicensed contractor to repair a roof at a Bethalto property.

Angela G. Klein, as executor of the estate of Mary K. Webb, deceased filed a complaint on June 19 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Parkside Estates Condominium Association and Steve Mitchell alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 22, 2013, Webb suffered damages to her real and personal property at her residence at Parkside Estates Condominium in Bethalto due to storm water. The suit states the condominium association hired Mitchell to do roofing work and that no tarps were placed over the roof prior to the storm passing through the area. The suit also states that Mitchell was not a licensed roofing contractor and did not carry insurance.

The plaintiff holds Parkside Estates Condominium Association and Mitchell responsible because the association allegedly was negligent in hiring an unlicensed contractor and Mitchell was negligent in not having sufficient materials to cover exposed areas of the roof.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants of more than $50,000, plus costs and all other relief that is just and appropriate.

She is represented by Joseph N. Reames of The Law Office of Joseph N. Reames LLC in Wood River.
