EDWARDSVILLE – Damages are sought from the owners of a Roxana refinery after an insulator fell from scaffolding at the site and was injured.

Charles Crowder and Donna Crowder filed a complaint on June 14 in the Madison County Circuit Court against the Phillips 66, Cenovus Energy US LLC, et al. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on June 16, 2016, Charles Crowder was employed by Premier Insulation and was working at defendants' Wood River Refinery in Roxana when he fell from scaffolding to the ground. The suit states that a board on the scaffolding was unsecured and slid when he stepped on it and fell.

He alleges he suffered severe and permanent injuries, disability, medical care and treatment expenses and lost wages as a result of the fall.

The plaintiffs allege the defendants failed to maintain the premises in a reasonably safe condition, failed to provide necessary training and failed to provide adequate warning of the dangerous condition.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against the defendants, jointly and severally, for actual damages, costs and all other relief that are just and proper.

They are represented by David C. Nelson of Nelson & Nelson, Attorneys at Law in Belleville.
