Husband and wife allege Goodyear, others didn't explain asbestos risks

Asbestos 12

BELLEVILLE — A couple claims the husband developed lung cancer after being exposed to asbestos fibers during his career.

Glenn Robbins and Lucille Robbins filed a complaint May 10 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Essex Specialty Products LLC, Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. and others alleging they failed to exercise due care and caution for the safety of others.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that during Glenn Robbins' career, he was exposed to and inhaled or ingested asbestos fibers emanating from certain products manufactured, sold, distributed or installed by the defendants. On March 9, 2017, he found out he had lung cancer, and claims it is caused by asbestos. He claims he has suffered great pain and anguish and is liable for medical expenses. The plaintiffs hold Essex Specialty Products, Goodyear Tire & Rubber and others responsible because they allegedly included asbestos fibers in their products when substitutes were available and failed to adequately warn or provide instructions about the risks of being around products that contain asbestos fibers.

The plaintiffs seek compensatory damages of not less than $50,000. They are represented by Randy L. Gori of Gori, Julian & Associates PC in Edwardsville.
