BELLEVILLE — A former Belleville Boot employee claims she was terminated because she was pregnant.
LaKeisha Evans filed a complaint on March 2 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Belleville Shoe Manufacturing Company Inc. doing business as Belleville Boot, alleging it violated the Illinois Human Rights Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 17, 2016, she was terminated form her employment because she was pregnant.
As a result, Evans claims she suffered loss of income and benefits, physical and emotional pain and suffering.
The plaintiff alleges the defendant refused to accommodate her pregnancy and to engage in the interactive process, retaliated against her and terminated her employment for exercising her rights.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory damages, pre-judgment interest, costs, expenses, attorney fees and all other additional relief deemed just and equitable.
She is represented by John Stephen Brubaker of The Law Office of Van Lear P. Eckert PC in Belleville.
