BELLEVILLE – A St. Clair County patient alleges she was injured after a back surgery.
Olivia Reed and Johnnie B. Reed filed a complaint on Jan. 12 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against St. Louis University and Phillippe Mercier, M.D., alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Jan. 15, 2016, Olivia Reed sustained serious injuries to her ureter and to her body as a whole during a minimally invasive back surgery performed by the defendants.
She alleges she has suffered constant pain and suffering, loss of enjoyment of life and incurred substantial amount of medical expenses.
The plaintiffs allege the defendants failed to apply the knowledge and skill ordinarily used by qualified health care providers.
The plaintiffs seek damages of more than $50,000, plus costs of this action.
